How can I boot up a Windows 8 system that support EFI and Secure boot so it will recognize my hard drive to restore my image?

Here is a method to boot up a Windows 8 system that supports EFI and Secure Boot.

  1. You will need to create a recovery drive. To start this, go to Control Panel. (You may launch Control Panel just by typing that in at the Metro interface)
  2. In Control Panel, select "Find and fix problems" under the System and Security section.
  3. Select "Recovery" which appears on the bottom left side of the screen.
  4. Click on "Create a recovery drive" and follow the prompts. You will need to have a black USB flash drive connected to your computer.
  5. Once the USB drive has been created, you may open it with Windows Explorer to view the contents.
  6. Create a new folder in it called DiskImage.
  7. Copy the contents of the "C:\Program Files\LSoft Technologies\Active@ Disk Image" into that folder.
  8. You may now boot your system from the Recovery Drive.
  9. Once booted, select Troubleshoot -> Advanced Options -> Command Prompt.
  10. Locate the drive letter of the recovery stick by typing in E: (it may be another drive letter, you may check by typing in F: or G: or H:)
  11. Change into the DiskImage folder by typing in cd diskimage at the E:> prompt.
  12. To launch the Disk Image program, type in disk_image and the program will start.
  13. A message will appear that it is running in demo mode but it will allow you to restore an image.
